Creative Ways To Do Your Exercise
Exercise gets old quickly, especially if you have not been in the habit of working out regularly. The tedious, repetitive activities that are most effective in getting fit may start to make you wish for the old days of lounging on your sofa and doing nothing. This is why it is important to mix thing up in your fitness routine.
Walking is a good example of how of an activity that can get boring really quickly if you do not take steps (pun intended)to make it more interesting.
Get a dog
It does not even have to be your dog. Offer to walk a friend’s pet, or maybe even offer your services to a neighbor as a dog walker. You will soon find that having a dog along makes the miles seem to fly by. Between taking care of the animal and allowing it time to pause the dreary aspects of walking will seem to disappear.
Choose a different route each time
Depending on where you live your options will vary, but for most people there are alternatives to going to the same way every single time. Seeing different things and exploring a neighborhood from different perspectives will make the journey more interesting.
Have a destination
It may be the library, or a local coffee-shop, but having somewhere to go helps a walker to maintain focus and gives them an incentive.
Have a goal
Maybe one day you will move up to jogging or speed-walking. Or, perhaps you want to lose a certain amount of weight. Make sure that the goal is reachable, but not so easy to accomplish that you lose motivation.
Reward yourself
A reward can be anything from a candy bar to a cold beer, but have something waiting for you when you get home as an incentive.
