Self-Image Counselor
Gina Romeo
Gina is an integral part of the fully integrated mental health program for Camp California Fitness. Having nearly 20 years of experience working with and counseling those who struggle with various forms of eating disorders, Gina offers her professional insight and expertise to all attendees of Camp California Fitness. She is a long standing member of the National Eating Disorders Association and is keenly aware of the warning signs of those struggling with weight and body image issues. Gina earned her Bachelors of Art in Psychology at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she earned her Masters in Social Work. She is licensed through the Board of Behavioral Sciences and holds advanced clinical social work practice status as a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from the National Association of Social Workers.
Having battled eating disorders herself, Gina has gained the trust of many who struggle with weight issues with her nonjudgmental approach. Through early recognition and skilled intervention, Gina will help the girls learn to recognize personal problems leading to unhealthy behaviors and attitudes which contribute to poor body-image . A promoter of lifelong commitment rather than short term/quick fixes, Gina ran her first marathon in Rome, Italy after training for months and raising thousands of dollars for the American Diabetes Association.
She completed her second marathon in Athens, Greece retracing the footsteps of history. She works diligently within a large health maintanence organization providing education and psychotherapy for those trapped by obesity. She proudly welcomes the birth of her son Alexander, fulfilling yet another life-long dream!
