Camp Directors
The directors of Camp California Fitness are dedicated to the health and fitness education of children so they can make positive changes in their lives. Over forty percent of adults in our society are overweight and suffering from diseases and illness due to obesity. Since childhood obesity frequently leads to adulthood obesity, we believe that education is the foundation of change. The knowledge gained empowers the girls to make positive changes in their lives; changes which promote health and minimize their risks of the long term health consequences of obesity. With obesity being strongly associated with such chronic diseases as heart disease, diabetes, vascular disease, hypertension, arthritis, depression, eating disorders and many others, obesity is one of the fastest growing health problems of the 21st century. Camp California Fitness is aligning itself with people like you who are interested in long term cures to this deadly problem.
Shawna Rocha

Shawna is the energetic heart of Camp California Fitness and has dedicated her life to teaching people the core components of healthy living. She recognized the connection between our minds and bodies early on in her life and pursued her interest in this area with a degree in Social Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Having struggled with weight issues, Shawna has felt the societal pressures to be thin and the stigma associated with being overweight. Through her journey of self-discovery, Shawna learned the value of focusing on healthy living rather than numbers on a scale. She learned to like the person looking back at her in the mirror and she has remained tireless in her efforts to help others do the same. Immersing herself into the study of health and fitness, she became a fitness instructor certified by the International Sports Science Association with numerous specific certifications such as sports nutrition, water therapy, knee and back injuries, fit boxing and youth fitness. She maintains a busy schedule as the Administrative Director of CCF but has found time to add a Master’s in Fitness certificate to her growing resume. Shawna reaches out regularly to the growing CCF community with ongoing words of encouragement, support and warm hugs you can even feel through emails! She participates in health and fitness seminars across the United States and she finds it particularly fulfilling to work with young people struggling to build strong foundations for healthy living. Shawna humbly credits her inspirational peers and mentors for fostering this desire to assist others in their journeys of self-improvement. Feel free to e-mail Shawna at shawna@campcaliforniafitness.com.
