Shortly thereafter, he began his journey in health care at St. Louis University where he completed prerequisite courses for medical school in two years. With the support of his wife Diane, Dr. Mike received his Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) from St. Louis University School of Medicine and went on to complete a Family Practice residency in Wisconsin. He has been board certified by the American Board of Family Physicians since 1994. Dr. Mike has served as Medical Director for a series of community clinics, Chief Medical Officer of a large multispecialty medical group, team physician at the youth, high school and college levels, and perhaps most importantly to him…as manager/coach of his four children’s baseball and soccer teams. He has an extensive background in teaching and has been appointed academic positions at Idaho State University, Oregon Health Sciences University and most recently, as a Volunteer Clinical Faculty member in the Department of Family Practice and Community Medicine at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Mike actively participates in health and wellness education programs in the community through lectures and through high quality primary care. He offers a particular interest and expertise in the medical management of obesity and has assisted in developing the unmatched integration of medicine and health into Camp California Fitness. Also a believer that “we should practice what we preach,” Dr. Mike can be seen regularly jogging the local streets in the early morning hours. He also provides exciting, integrated teachings on health related topics.
