Fitness Programs

FitnessPhysical activity is a key to success in our program. In order to lose weight, the body must expend more calories than are consumed. Some children begin to gain weight being sedentary and inactive from an over exposure to television, computer and video games and are consuming more calories than they expend.

Our fitness program is conducted in a non-competitive setting designed to be fun and exciting while teaching the importance of exercise that the girls can continue when they leave camp. Every girl will participate in various daily guided physical activities. Our program provides a wide variety of sports and activities such as basketball, softball, tennis, football, swimming, karate, running, aerobics, soccer, weight training, hiking, frisbee and volleyball.

Each day the girls will play a team sport. Team sports are important to encourage and build self-confidence. Many young girls are too self conscious or embarrassed to try to learn a new sport. Camp California Fitness assures that each girl learns the basic rules and regulations of the game, becomes an active participant of a team, and discover their own personal talents. The team sports may include volleyball, softball, soccer, flag football, basketball, and kickball.

Camp California Fitness offers a variety of aerobic classes such as water aerobics, kick boxing, circuit training, hip-hop, yoga, fitness walking, dance and pilate's which will be taught under the direction of certified fitness instructors. Aerobic activity helps boost energy levels and increases caloric output, which promotes weight loss. It also can decrease stress and anxiety. The girls start each day with a great aerobic workout.

Resistance training (i.e. lifting weights) dramatically burns calories and is an important part of our fitness program. The program will incorporate machines and free weights. The campers start with the basics and learn proper technique in order to prevent injury. They also learn the importance of muscle building and muscle strength. Weight training classes increase flexibility, agility, and tone and strengthen muscles.
